Summit Extra Pale Ale

Today is like most days off. Sleep in late. Listen to some indie music before jumping in the shower. I spend part of the morning playing with the cat and reading through the new edition of BYO (Brew Your Own). Mel is working on the Midwest Perspective’s design with a fountain pen. We remembered that Ellis was using one at the White rabbits last evening. We inquired as to its origin. We proceed to travel by foot to the Saint Paul student center in search of said pen. We purchase two. Grab some lunch. Attempt the Sudoko and crossword. Failures on both.
First Beer review for TMP.

Summit Extra Pale Ale
This brew starts out crystal clear; obviously filtered. A pure white head rises then fades quickly, some lacing down the glass. A beautiful copper color gets your mouth watering. The aroma is minimal with subtle candy and toffee sweetness. Moderate carbonation and medium-medium full give a satisfying feeling.

Good citrus hop flavor. Slightly vegetal is present but not overwhelming. Moderate hop bitterness keeps you coming back. Crystal sweetness adds some malt complexity.

This beer is very drinkable and an oasis in many bars in Minnesota where craft beer is like the loon. The hops are usually more aggressive but I believe this bottle was a bit older and slightly oxidized. A solid pale ale that is a great crossover beer. If you haven't had the pleasure of drinking this fine brew, stop by anywhere, really and give it a try.
