Untitled

It snowed yesterday...last night I went out on a quite meaningless but all together essential bike ride on a quest for ink and balance. Before I stepped out the door I asked my roommates what the odds I would be hit on my bike were.

The thought of a chromed out single-speed bike?
Where and who is riding that tonight?

I converted two years ago when I realized I didn't need all those gears, they were frozen in the first place from riding in the snow from UC to West Bank and I realized then what in my mind now is the Truth surrounding single-speed and fixed-gear.

I skiied along from 1130 to see some folks about beer and Halo on my Red Wing Boots. The soles are a perfect blend of friction and slip -- all those years of skiing meant my technique was perfect, my lungs were about to explode but I was high on striding.

The busses were packed. Clammy, diseased and urban.
The snow is only white for so long -- the purity of the snowfall is meant to be experienced. I didn't quite get the news that there were over 300 crashes from the storm.

Minnesotans have quite poor memories...generally it snows about this time, usually earlier -- and keeps snowing until late March.

Now, must be about time to hybridize the winter cycling experience with the red-wing skiing...
